Panel Members

Nina PetrowMrs Nina Jasmin Petrow, was born in Uznach, Switzerland. She moved to America after graduating from the Higher State College of Economics in Wattwil, Switzerland. She attended Trinity University where she was named to the Dean’s List. Nina also had the opportunity to be part of Chapman School of Law in Orange County, California. She proceeded with a Master’s Degree in International and Comparative Law at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX in 2005. She was most recently appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in San Antonio for the German Consulate General in Houston in September 2015. She is founder and CEO of the Petrow Law Group in San Antonio.
 


Philipp D. HardbergerMr. Phillip D. Hardberger. Mr. Hardberger received a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, a master’s degree from Columbia University and a law degree from Georgetown. He was chief justice of the 4th Court of Appeals, a civil rights attorney, a Peace Corps volunteer, and a former Air Force bomber pilot. In addition he was re-elected in 2007. The former Mayor of this great City San Antonio. Mayor Hardberger has overseen a period of economic growth, rising prosperity and stability in San Antonio.
 


Ron NirenbergMr. Ron Nirenberg, currently elected to San Antonio’s District 8 City Council– just in 2015 reelected for his outstanding work. HE is a graduate of Trinity University (B.A.), as well as the University of Pennsylvania (M.A.). Experienced in business and policy, he is a former program director for the Annenberg Public Policy Center, where he developed and directed award-winning civic engagement programs in cities across the United States. Councilman Nierenberg is also the former General Manager of Trinity University’s KRTU-FM, and the founder of two small businesses.
 


Eduardo ParraEduardo J. Parra is a business development matchmaker that connects people with big ideas to capital, and people with capital to big ideas. Having spent his career as a principal engineer tackling large and complex problems with teams of public and private sector clients, he has the ability to understand business challenges from multiple angles, provide strategic guidance, and implement key solutions. He has experience in opening new markets, government relations, international business, and a rich global network which he puts to work on behalf of his clients.
Recently featured as one of San Antonio Business Journal’s 2016 40 under 40, he was also selected as a 2015 Marshall Memorial Fellow, a prestigious transatlantic leadership exchange program. As a Marshall Fellow he will spend the month of April touring European Union nations, including Germany, to meet with political and business leaders to strengthen ties and explore trade opportunities. He currently serves on the board of OPERA San Antonio and the board of trustees of the World Affairs Council of San Antonio. Eduardo is an alumni of Leadership San Antonio Class XXXIX in 2014, a former board member of the U.S. Green Building Council in Central Texas, and past chair of the Energy & Sustainability Committee for the Greater Chamber of Commerce in San Antonio.


Matthias HofferberthDr. Matthias Hofferberth, Assistant Professor of Political Science, International Relations and Global Governance at The University of Texas at San Antonio. He was born and educated in Germany.  Previous to his residence in America he completed his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science at Goethe University, Frankfurt. He specializes in the field of International Relations.
 
 


Klaus BrunDr. Klaus Brun – Machinery Program Director at the Southwest Research Institute. His experience includes positions in engineering, project management, and management at Solar Turbines, General Electric and Alstom. We are looking forward to hear his opinion about the current emission scandal of Volkswagen.
 
 


Francisco GonimaMr. Francisco Gónima who will moderate and lead the panel discussion this evening. He is owner and principle of the Francisco Gónima Executive Coaching & Strategy. With his expertise in communication he is the perfect candidate to be our Moderator this evening.
